GOTT’S ROADSIDE RESTAURANT – NAPA VALLEY, CA – USA - Ahi Burger
In the middle of Cali wine country we challenged ourselves to find a decent burger… but oh my Gott! these were over-the-top awesome.
The industrial style decor gives a cafeteria feel to what turned out to be real gourmet chow. The 3 burgers we tested were massive, juicy and pre-cut – nice touch. We had a cheeseburger, the Beacon Burger and our favorite Ahi Tuna Burger. It’s a five ounce sushi-grade ahi tuna steak, seared rare with ginger wasabi mayo and asian cole slaw on a toasted egg bun… searing it keeps it juicy and the ingredients compliment each other divinely.
If we hadn’t gorged we would have tried the Wisconsin sour dough… sounds and looks awesome. Each half of the burgers fit into paper holders to keep your fingers clean, but they don’t stay that way if you get any of the 4 kinds of fries they serve up – garlic, chili cheese and sweet potato. We dug the garlic fries, served with parsley immersed in the aromatic butter: crunchy to perfection.
There is no service but the food is worthy of table cloths. They have a great beer list (including Austrian Trummer Pils) and while they do have wines, we suggest venturing to literally any other place nearby… you’re in wine country, after all.
For a surprisingly good burger in Napa Valley, these guys know their stuff. From the sauces to the fries, it’s a rewarding for the most critical of burger aficionados.
