Katsudon

Welcome to Little Tokyo in Paris

One of my favorite places to eat Japanese in Paris. This place is popular mainly with locals and is situated in Little Tokyo which is the neighborhood surrounding Rue Ste. Anne. You know you are there when you see millions! of Japanese shops and restaurants side by side. Kunitoraya is a tiny restaurant in the heart of the 1st arrondissement and is famous for its house made Udon noodles and insanely tasty Katsudon (i actually don’t know if they are famous for Katsudon but they should be! as it is one of the best dishes in the world in my humble opinion). Try the Tempura Udon and order Sake to gulp it all down (cold not warm sake) and you will be in heaven, if heaven was a bowl of hot Udon soup on a cold winter night.

Almost everything is made fresh in the open kitchen where you can watch the chefs do their magic. The sitting area is very packed but still doesn’t feel overcrowded and even at a Friday night without reservations we got a table after a waiting time of 15min and that is absolutely worth it. BUT this is a place where you eat and then leave to have drinks somewhere else. Because if you don’t all the poor people outside waiting in line will not get the chance to experience Japan in Paris. So take a shovel and dig in!!!!
