How we wish we could’ve stayed longer to explore even more of this beautiful city in Portugal.

As both sides of the river have much to offer, we suggest staying some days at both sides. Next to the World of Wines, you’ll find the ‘Yeatman Hotel’. Which is probably the best hotel you’ll find in Porto. Yeatman’s sister hotel ‘Infante Sagres Hotel’ is located at the other side of the river. During your stay here you’ll be on walking distance of almost all the must see in the heart of Porto.

The Yeatman Hotel

If you’re a wine lover you’ll fall in love with this hotel. Let me rephrase that: everyone will fall in love with this hotel. The Yeatman is one of Europe’s leading wine hotels and besides that, the view from every room is stunning. Enjoy waking up while looking over the river and historic city of Porto. Also, every room is individually decorated. Each Portuguese wine producer made their mark with artifacts and pictures including elements of their vineyards and wines.

Not only each room, but also the pool has this view we couldn’t get enough of. In real life it’s even more magical. The pool leads to the spa and a gym where you can burn off all those calories from the rich breakfast buffet.

The Yeatman is located in the historic heart of Vila Nova de Gaia next to the ancient ‘lodges’ where Port houses have aged their wines for over three centuries. And last but not least, in this hotel you’ll find a two-star Michelin restaurant.

Infante Sagres

The sister hotel of The Yeatman is just as successful, Infante Sagres is Porto’s leading luxury boutique Hotel. Located in the historic part of Porto, very close to the UNESCO World Heritage area, it’s the perfect spot to explore the city. And after a full day of exploring, you can have a drink (or two) at one of the many bars just two streets away.

For already 70 years this hotel is the icon of sophistication and design, Infante Sagres opened their doors in 1951 and it took 6 years to build. It’s like you walk into a movie. Ornate, carved ceilings, intricate stained glass windows (dated 1945), opulent furniture and chandeliers, it’s a fairy tale. It’s like you’re having breakfast in the ballroom out of beauty and the beast.

From the breakfast, you have a view over the outdoor patio. This is part of Vogue Café, the Hotel’s bar and restaurant. You’ll read more about that later in this article. Many dignitaries and famous guests stayed at the Infante Sagres, and of course: in The Royal Suite. Including the English Royal family, most notably, Queen Elizabeth II. We surely woke up feeling like a queen in the fresh linen and comfortable beds.

A little relaxation before you leave

After a good city trip, you could feel more exhausted than well rested. It’s a different kind of holiday! Walking around the city, catching all the sightseeing’s, doing a little tour, heading to restaurants and after maybe even to a nice bar for a last drink (tips in Porto: The Royal Cocktail Club & Irish Pub Bonaparte Downtown). A lot to do, a lot to see and a lot to experience. Time to give yourself some rest before you head home. Which you can find at the spa of Vila Foz.
